Westbury, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Volleyball team (0-2) opened their 2008 season as participants in the SUNY Old Westbury Panther Classic.  On day one, the Bridges fell to the host school in three straight before losing a tough match to SUNY Farmingdale.

Against SUNY Old Westbury (1-6), the Bridges were paced by junior middle hitter Kerry-Ann Burton (Harry S Truman / Bronx, NY) who notched four kills, seven digs, and one solo block.  Junior setter Rosaura Arias (Thedore Roosevelt / Bronx, NY) addeda match-high 10 assists, while senior outshide hitter Jasmine Thimothe (Samuel J. Tilden / Brooklyn, NY) picked up eight digs.

In the team's second game of the day against SUNY Farmingldale, the Bridges battled through the first two sets to enter the third tied 1-1.  A late run by the Rams propelled them to a 25-22 triumph in the third set and their eventual win in the fourth.  Burton again had a solid all-around game, contributing seven kills, seven digs, three service aces, and a pair of solo blocks.  Freshman Iris Clopton-Robinson (Monticello / Monticello, NY) led the team with nine digs.

Brooklyn will return to action on day two of the Panther Classic, taking on Mt. St. Vincent at 10:00 am and St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) at 12:00 pm.
